The Simba competition version comes standard with a limited trim riser system. It is important to use the correct settings to get the optimum performance from your Simba. Neutral trim setting The standard or neutral trim position for the Simba is with all the risers set at equal length. For this position you will have about 5 cm released on your trim tab. This is the recommended position for most of your flying time. The glider will have a trim speed of 38-39 km/h in this position. All the certification DHV 2 and Acpul Performance were done with the glider in this trim configuration. Always use the Trim position for launch especially in alpine conditions. Slow or closed trim setting For thermalling in small light lift conditions it is of some advantage to slow the glider down a bit at times. The Simba will have the best climb with the trims closed about 2.5 cm from the Trim position. This will mean that you will have about 1 cm difference between each A,B,C1 and C2 riser. The trim speed of the glider will be about 36-37 km/h at this setting. The trims can be pulled all the way down to the fully closed position but for the best thermalling it is recommended to close only half of the travel from trim position to fully closed position. Fast or released trim setting The Simba will have the best L/D flying around 43-45 km/h. It is at the pilot’s discretion to use the trim or accelerator or a combination of both to get to this speed. For the most stability in full accelerated flight it is recommended to have the trim in the neutral position and to only use full speed bar. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions |
